Creamed Rice
- Preparation time 5 minutes
- Cooking time 30 minutes
- Serves 4
Ingredients
- ½ cup rice
- 2¾ cups milk
- ¼ cup caster sugar
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- pinch nutmeg
- dried cranberries, chopped, to serve
Method
- Place the rice in a sieve and rinse under cold running water.
- Place the milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil. Add rice and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 25–30 minutes or until rice is tender and milk is absorbed.
- Stir through zest and cinnamon. Top with nutmeg and cranberries.
HINT: This dish is also good when eaten cold.
