Athletes interested in shaping the future of high performance sport in Australia can apply to have their say as a new member of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Athlete Advisory Committee.
Established in 2020, the committee is made up of Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games athletes and provides insights and recommendations on important strategy decisions impacting the high performance sport system.
After providing guidance on projects such as the development of the AIS Wellbeing Health Check and the 2032+ Australia’s High Performance Sport Strategy over the past few years, three-time Olympian Rowie Webster, Commonwealth Games pole vaulter Angus Armstrong, and Olympic silver medal winning rower Josh Booth are set to step down later this year.
AIS Athlete Advisory Committee Chair Kurt Fearnley AO PLY said: “Shout out to Rowie Webster, Angus Armstrong and Josh Booth for their contribution to the committee over the last few years and in making sure that the athlete voice is heard within the AIS. You're amazing and thank you.
“If you are an athlete who is interested in athlete representation and who wants to make sure the athlete voice within your sport is heard, please apply, we’d love to have you.”
Applications are now open for current categorised or recently retired athletes to submit an expression of interest, with the AIS strongly encouraging First Nations voices to apply.
Expressions of interest close on 6 October, with more information available here.
