AIS Canberra campus farewells 2023 and says bonjour to 2024!

Another busy year at the AIS Canberra Campus comes to a close with over 103,000 people visiting the site to train and tour throughout 2023.

This year the AIS Canberra site was home to over 5,180 athletes from 33 different sports as they utilised the world class facilities for training and rehabilitation – a 25 per cent increase from 2022.

Over 203 high performance training camps were held onsite throughout the year, with Gymnastics, Basketball and Volleyball Australia the most frequent campers – each holding over 20 camps at the AIS Canberra site.

January, April and November were the busiest months at the AIS Residences in 2023 with a combined total of over 13,000 bed nights in those three months alone.

This year also marked the return of AIS public and group tours after a two-year hiatus due to COVID, and since recommencing in April over 98,000 people across 2,316 different school, sporting, corporate and public groups toured the AIS Canberra site.

With most onsite activity winding down for the holidays, it won’t be long before the AIS campus is booming with athletes again with Paris 2024 preparations ramping up.

There will be over 36 different sporting groups staying at the AIS Canberra site in January alone, with the Manly Sea Eagles, Artistic Swimming and Rowing Australia among the first to make use of the campus in 2024.
