Coaches looking to further their studies have been offered a helping hand by a ground-breaking new scholarship announced by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Adelaide University Sport and Fitness (AUSF).

Applications are now open for the AIS and AUSF Sports Scholarship, which will provide the successful recipient $15,000 across three years to help balance the demands of study at the University of Adelaide and their sporting career.
Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Executive General Manager of AIS Performance Matti Clements said well-rounded and supported coach development is the foundation of a sustainably successful sporting system.
“This is the first time coaches in Australia are being offered this level of support to pursue both study and sport, a combination we know is a winning mix,” Ms Clements said.
“World best athletes need world best coaches and Australian sport is united in our commitment to valuing and supporting our coaches to win well in both sport and in life.
“Today’s announcement supports the work of the High Performance Coach Development Strategy and will ensure we have the leaders we need for sustainable sporting success in the leadup to the Brisbane 2032 Games and beyond.”
With elite athletes also being encouraged to apply, Adelaide University Sport and Fitness CEO Michelle Wilson said: “AUSF and the University of Adelaide has a strong commitment to sport and the role it plays in a balanced education environment. We are excited to offer this scholarship opportunity to support elite athletes and coaches to balance their sport and education with the aim of keeping talented athletes here in South Australia”.
Applications are open until March 14, with the terms and conditions and information on how to apply available here: www.adelaideunisport.com.au/elite-sport/grants-and-scholarships
