Ignite Athlete Employment Program

Supporting the professional ambitions of Australian Olympians and Paralympians.

Deloitte Australia’s Athlete Employment Program (Ignite) supports and develops the athletic and professional ambitions of Australian athletes and is delivered in affiliation with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Ignite is designed specifically by athletes, for athletes, and provides successful applicants with:

Flexibility

That accommodates both your work and training/competition commitments.

Career growth

With comprehensive onboarding support, ongoing training, and access to mentoring and coaching to achieve long-term success.

Remuneration

That helps to support you whilst pursuing your sporting goals.

Well being

With access to our dedicated Athlete Liaison Officer (ALO) to ensure you’re supported throughout to balance your professional and sporting needs.

Ignite is open via application to categorised athletes interested in working at Deloitte. Applicants must have completed, or be in the final stages of completing, relevant professional qualifications.

"Deloitte aspires to be the employer of choice for athletes who wish to pursue a career in parallel with their sporting career. Ignite has been specifically designed to encourage high performance both on and off the field, while providing the flexibility to enable ongoing training and competition to co-exist with work and study commitments."

John Greig - Chair of Deloitte Australia

"It's no secret that being a successful high performance athlete often comes with a full-time workload of training, competing and travelling.

This commitment to their sport often sees work and study take a back seat for athletes and this can add further pressure, and compromise both their performance and wellbeing.

The Ignite athlete employment program is an innovative and collaborative approach that aligns with our goal of supporting athletes to balance their performance with wellbeing to win well and inspire Australians."

Matti Clements - AIS Executive General Manager, AIS Performance

“When you’re a professional athlete, training and qualifying is only half the battle – regrettably, many of us feel like we have to sacrifice financial security to compete, and that can have consequences.

Having a program that supports athletes through their transition into the corporate world is invaluable. It allows athletes to continue training while preparing for their professional careers. This approach not only helps them maintain their athletic excellence but also provides a structured pathway to success in business, ensuring that their skills and experiences are effectively leveraged in both arenas."

Curtis McGrath OAM - Four-time Paralympic Gold Medallist and Deloitte Australia team member
